Poms has evolved over the years, but our mission remains the same: to utilize fresh, locally sourced produce and work with partners in a laid-back environment while providing professional service.
Poms was founded by James Pomlett in 2015. In early 2015, while shopping in Lichfield, James and his then-girlfriend (now wife), Rachael, found a vacant building at 20-22 Bird Street. Poms Lichfield opened its doors on 9th June 2015, offering Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Over time, the business shifted its focus to brunch, leading to the opening of Poms at Barton Marina and later, in 2024, the opening of Poms Ashbourne.
Poms first opened in 2014 and has experienced significant growth, investment, and expansion over the past 9 years. We take pride in serving fresh, locally sourced produce with our dedicated teams.
Poms Lichfield opened in 2015 and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We have perfected our brunch dishes and incorporate fresh, local produce into our innovative dishes. Our friendly, high-quality service teams operate dog-friendly venues.
The team that helped us start the journey of Poms Kitchen & Deli will always be important to us. They helped create the foundations of what Poms is today. Nathan, our Head Chef, and Richard, our Manager, along with some other amazing people, were part of our opening team. Although they have moved on, it's still great to see many of them around and visit Poms from time to time. Nathan also sometimes joins us and plays for our Poms United Staff Football Team.
We appointed Mark Hill as our Head Chef in 2017. Mark had previously worked with James at Thwaites, and it was great to reunite after a couple of years since James had left to open Poms. Mark made a great impact on the business and won us our 1st Taste of Staffordshire Award just 6 months after starting the role.
Mark has been a significant part of Poms' success. He joined Poms in 2019 as the Restaurant Manager and is now our Group Operations Manager, responsible for overseeing the entire business operation on a day-to-day basis. He has played a key role in Poms' growth and was integral to the opening of Barton Marina and Ashbourne. Mark has now been with Poms for 5 years and is proud of what he has accomplished during this time.
